TTeC 2007: Elderly - Who cares? - Newsletter no 1, Call for abstracts
On behalf of the Programme Committee for the Tromsø Telemedicine and eHealth Conference (TTeC) we would like to invite you to join us at this exciting event to be held on 11-13 June, 2007 in Tromsø, Norway. We invite you to submit abstracts for oral presentations, poster and e-poster presentations at the conference. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Monday 15 January 2007.
“Elderly – Who Cares?” is an ambiguous title that seeks to tickle and challenge you. Do we care? And how do we care for elderly people today and in the future? As an increasing part of the world’s population is aging, a key challenge is how to provide high quality of care to senior citizens. Information and communication technologies (ICT) are designated as means to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s healthcare sector.
Scope and purpose
The TTeC 2007 conference aims to promote practice, research and development within the field of telemedicine and eHealth in elder care. The conference will provide a meeting place for exchanging knowledge and debating strategies between the key players. This event will strengthen efforts to maximize the potential for technology initiatives that contribute to better healthcare and quality of life for the elderly.
Intended participants (contributors and audience)
- healthcare professionals, managers and consultants
- policy- and decision-makers
- users, developers, researchers and producers of telemedicine and eHealth services
- representatives from patient organisations
- academics, scholars and students in the field of health, medicine, social sciences, technology and informatics
Conference Program
The conference programme will include plenary keynote speeches, parallel sessions, a moderated discussion, workshops, symposia, poster and e-poster session and commercial exhibits.

Proceedings
All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference book of abstracts and will be made available on the conference website.
The selection of abstracts will be carried out by expert referees in the Scientific Committee.
Please submit your abstract in English.
Deadline for abstract submission: January 15, 2007.
