PasientLink develops and tests secure communication between the patient and their regular GP (general practitioner) over the Internet. PasientLink develops and tests secure communication between the patient and their regular GP (general practitioner) over the Internet. Pilot operation at the Sentrum general practitioners' office in Tromsø, Norway, started on 15 October 2002, and will take place over one year. The intervention group and control group each include 100 patients.
The objective of the project is both to develop the system, and to obtain more knowledge about patients' use of and benefits from direct electronic communication with their regular GP. The service is to be evaluated with regard to the organizational, socio-economic, clinical and security aspects.
The Norwegian Directorate for Health and Social Welfare (Sosial- og helsedirektoratet) is funding the project.
