eHealth Study Visit from Moldova
A delegation of seven people working with eHealth development in Moldova, visited Norway on 5-7 November. The visit was part of the WHO-NST collaboration with Moldova on developing a national eHealth strategy. The initiative is funded by the Swiss Development Agency, the World Bank, and the European Commission.Read more
National eHealth Strategy Toolkit
The WHO/ITU eHealth Strategy Toolkit was launched during a workshop in Geneva on 24-26 July. A number of countries presented their national strategies in eHealth and expressed their willingness to share their experience and to learn from others.read more
eHealth Strategy for Moldova

Collaboration with the Nenets autonomous region (NAO)
A joint collaboration between the NST and the Nenets autonomous region (NAO) has been established in April 2012 following a visit to Naryan-Mar funded by the Barents-secretariat and NAO. The collaboration will improve health and social situation for the people living in the remote regions of Nenets, especially the indigenous population.read more
Inception visit to Moldova May 2012
The Ministry of Health (MoH) in Moldova has requested support from the World Health Organization (WHO) to develop an eHealth strategy as part of the governmental ‘Strategic Programme for e-Transformation’. The aim of the inception visit was to explore how WHO may assist in strengthening the governance and facilitate the process of linking the several national and international initiatives and activities in ICT & health into an eHealth action plan and a vision towards ‘Moldova eHealth 2020’. read more
Charting a New Path in Global Health
A one day conference 'A World in Transition: Charting a New Path in Global Health' was organised in Oslo on 1 June 2012. The US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton gave the key note speech tothe 400 participants in Oslo City Hall. Four parallell workshops were organised adressing maternal health.More on the conference
Global eHealth Observatory
Since the first initiative in 2005, the WHO Global eHealth Observatory has produced a number of reports on the status of e-health in member states. The NST has been involved with developing the survey questionnaire, piloting the survey and reporting findings from the Europan region. A new survey is planned for 2012.

Telemedicine/e-health in resource-limited settings: sustain & scale
The Norwegian Center for Integrated Care and Telemedicine (NST) and The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp organise jointly a Telemedicine and e-health workshop on how to scale up and sustain telemedicine and e-health systems in resource-limited settings. The workshop targets professionals who have worked with Telemedicine and e-health projects and policies over some time and/or are involved in coaching junior staff using ICT for health.Read more...
Global Learning for Local Impact: Towards a generic blended learning model for competence process
The Norwegian Centre for Telemedicine (NST), a WHO Collaborating Centre, and the Constellation for AIDS Competence (Constellation) an international NGO registered in Belgium have worked jointly during the past two years on a blended learning platform for the facilitation of the AIDS Competence Process. On 12-13 January 2010, the partners invited the funders of the project, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as organizations and individuals interested to learn about the approach and advise on the next steps. Telemedicine and eHealth Workshop in Antwerp, Belgium

Global eHealth Observatory 2009
WHO established the Global Observatory for eHealth (GOe) in 2005, endorsed by the 58th World Health Assembly (WHA58.R28). The mission of the GOe is to improve health by providing Member States with information on effective practices, policies, standards, and the implementation of eHealth in countries. All 193 Member States have been invited to participate in the survey scheduled for summer 2009.

eHealth readiness missions to the Czech republic
In 2008, two eReadiness missions were carried out to the Czech Republic as part of joint activities on e-health between the Czech Republic and WHO Regional Office for Europe. Review of ICT-systems for HIV/AIDS and anti-retroviral treatment management in South Africa
Following the international workshop on e-health support for HIV/AIDS under the 46664 Arctic concert in Tromsø, June 2005, a project proposal was made with the title ‘e-health HIV toolkit; Developing Sustainable Public Health Technology for HIV/AIDS Management’. The initial phase of the project was a review study and a needs assessment and technology readiness study at a selection of ART-sites in Western Cape, South Africa . The study took place from September through November 2006. The paper of the review study is published in the recent Vol of the Jour of Telemedicine and Telecare.The results from the needs assessment in the ART-clinics, will be presented during the IST Africa 2008 conference in Windhoek, Namibia 7-9 May 2008.

In connection with the Tromsø Telemedicine and eHealth Conference 2006 (TTeC), a joint Norad-NST workshop on policy and practice of eHealth in development and aid was organized on 15 June. The workshop focused on the needs for eHealth and eLearning in the developing world. The 19 participants concluded that the event was a useful start for developing a joint platform for collaboration and sharing information. Mission to Tibilisi, Georgia 26-30 September 2003
A mission to Georgia was conducted in September 2003 with the aim to investigate the possibilities for a WHO pilot project on telemedicine in the country. There were meetings with the Georgian Ministry of Health, univeristies, hospitals and other institutions.
