Establishment of network in telepsychiatry shaped towards patients

The aim of the project is to develop and implement a model for use of telemedicine to improve the cooperation between the different levels of the public health service by use of Video Conference (VC).

Background

Because there are long travelling distances from the rural areas an active use of VC can improve the service to the patients, the General Practitioners and local health workers.

Project description

The aim is to let specialists assist consumers, their families and rural based healthcare professionals, including General Practitioners, both during in- and outpatient treatment.

Levels in this particular case are: University Hospital in Northern Norway, District Psychiatric Centre and the health workers in the consumer's local communities.

By using VC as tool psychiatrists, psychologists and nurses in the hospital can evaluate the consumer's condition before and after the hospitalization period, and perform requisite adjustments of the treatment.
