Hege K Andreassen is a sociologist at the Norwegian Centre for Integrated Care and Telemedicine. Her research interest is patients’ use of ICT for health purposes. She has finished her PhD project where she investigated the use of electronic communication between doctors and patients. The patients in her project are children suffering from atopic dermatitis. In this project she looked closer at how patients’ use of electronic communication with their doctor might stimulate and counteract medicalization.

Theoretically she is interested in the fields of medical sociology and STS (Science technology studies).
