Telemedicine, in the simplest term, is ICT for health purposes. It is about exchanging patient information between health personnel that are treating or otherwise taking care of patients. Telemedicine also gives the patient the opportunity to have contact directly with health personnel from their own homes, via PCs, laptops, cellphones or their TV.
The NST offers counselling to the public health service regarding implementation of telemedicine solutions.
We can give counsel and support through the implementation process in areas like law and security, economy, organisatorial consequences and which type of equipment that are most usable.
Telemedicine has contributed to the efforts of the Norwegian health authorities to renew, reorganize, and improve the productivity of public administration.
