Purpose: Improve access to health care in rural areas of Arkhangelsk Oblast (county) by means of telemedicine.
Objective: Constructing a portable telemedicine unit for use during emergency and screening of population in the districts of Arkhangelsk Oblast.
Target group: The population in rural areas of Arkhangelsk Oblast.
The project developed and tested a portable telemedicine unit for emergency purposes in Arkhangelsk Oblast. The first phase included tests of 47 patients before the unit was improved and then retested on ca 600 patients in 2001. ECG were mostly transferred during the screening. Project partners were several departments at the Regional Clinical Hospital in Arkhangelsk amongst them the Telemedicine Centre.

The project period ended in June 2001. The unit has been utilized both during emergencies and screening of the population in rural areas.
